THE RIGHT MOVES - PACKING TO MOVE TO A SMALLER HOME.

A dream of owning a house on the ground floor has finally COME TRUE! Add to that the fact that there are two washrooms in the said house and its like HEAVEN ON EARTH. No more dancing in desperation outside the loo waiting for someone to 'finish'.

We had been praying for a house on the ground floor for many years now. Couple of years ago, we met a nice old lady who owned just what we were looking for and wanted to sell - but not just yet! We negotiated on the price then WAITED for the green signal from her.

Finally, a couple of months ago, we started paperwork. After encountering and overcoming several obstacles, we finally cleared all legalities and are now the legal owners of a 2BHK on the ground floor.

The apartment (yes it's a flat) is in a building situated in a village close to Mapusa. We are a stone's throw from the village church and cemetery. Just opposite our building is a horticulture stand. One kilometre's walk will bring us to Mapusa bus stand. Another kilometre in the opposite direction and we reach MBBS.

I look forward to moving but first renovations need to done so the interior fits our needs. With incessant rains already in, its going to be a challenge.

Once everything is done, we will have another daunting task.

MOVING IN.

I've been collecting Amazon boxes for the past few years now in anticipation of the day when my dream will be fulfilled. I've been reading about how best to pack so it will be less stressful.

So, we don't have boxes but we will be packing our essential items of a week's requirement in suitcases. Kitchen items will go into boxes marked K, those for the boys' bedroom in boxes marked BB, ones for the master bedroom will be marked MB and then L for the living room ones. That way, any idiot unloading will know where each box goes.

Good ole ducktape and scissors for this task, of course. As we don't have to travel a long distance, we don't need packers and movers.

These days I am also evaluating what goes and what stays to move on to the new home. The new apartment is much smaller and therefore we will have to discard or leave back a large number of things. I'm already checking out my large book collection and sounding friends about this.

We will also be renting out the old apartment till we get a good buyer. So I have to decide what to keep back so we can rent it out as semi-furnished.

So many things to do! It's like going on an adventure. One doesn't really know what's going to happen next. But I look forward to creating a brand new home once again and living in it with my family. Cycling, visits to the church, walks in the evening and meeting new people and making new friends. All in all,

LG
