THE LIFE-CHANGING MAGIC of Tidying Up

(The following content is a summary of Marie Kondo's book on tidying up. I have just attempted to make it more concise and easy to understand with appropriate headings, highlights, bullets and pictures.) If you, too, don’t know how to tidy, don’t be discouraged. Now is the time to learn. By studying and applying the KonMari Method presented in this book, you can escape the vicious cycle of clutter. MYTH ONE “If you tidy your house all at once, you’ll rebound. It’s better to make it a habit to do a little at a time.”  Although this advice sounds very tempting, we’ve already seen that the first part is wrong. How about the suggestion that we should do only a little a day? Although it sounds convincing, don’t be fooled. The reason you never seem to finish is precisely because you tidy a little at a time.   MYTH TWO “Don’t aim for perfection.    There are six basic rules to get started: 1. COMMIT YOURSELF TO TIDYING UP. Committing to decluttering and organizing your space is half the battle. Once you commit yourself to tidying up your home, you can apply the method and spark more joy in your life. 2. IMAGINE YOUR IDEAL LIFESTYLE. For example, it’s not about cleaning out the maste

The fast is based on the lifelong kosher diet of the Jewish hero Daniel in the Biblical Book of Daniel and the three-week mourning fast in which Daniel abstained from all meat and wine. The Daniel Fast can also be as short as 10 days. The passage in Chapter 1 refers to a 10-day test wherein Daniel and others with him were permitted to eat vegetables and water to avoid the Babylonian king's food and wine. After remaining healthy at the end of the 10-day period, they continued the vegetable diet for the three years of their education. The passage in Chapter 10 refers to a three-week fast of no meat, wine, or rich food. The Daniel Fast limits food choices to whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and seeds. It prescribes the vegan diet in that it excludes the consumption of animal pro
